Objective To assess the effect of rotator cuff repair on rotator cuff injury complicated with long head of biceps tendon (LHBT) and its pathological factors. Methods A total of 120 patients with rotator cuff injury with LHBT disease were selected. The patients were divided into two groups according to the voluntary principle: 60 patients in the fixed group received LHBT fixation, and 60 patients in the amputation group received LHBT amputation. The operation time, complications, Visual analog pain scale (VAS), American shoulder and elbow surgeons (ASES) scores, disability of arm, shoulder and hand (DASH), MOS 36-item short-form health survey (SF-36) scores and the types of LHBT lesions was analyzed. Results The operation time of the fixation group was significantly longer than that of the amputation group (P<0.05). The scores of physiological function, role physical, physical pain and general health of the fixation group were significantly higher than those of the amputation group (P<0.05). The incidence of LHBT lesions in patients with rotator cuff injury involving subscapularis muscle (SSC) was significantly higher than that in patients without rotator cuff injury involving SSC (P<0.05). The incidence of LHBT lesions was positively correlated with the degree of tendon tear of SSC (P<0.05). Conclusion LHBT lesions were closely related to rotator cuff injuries. The incidence of LHBT lesions was positively correlated with the degree of tendon tears of SSC, and rotator cuff repair + LHBT fixation had shorter operation time, higher quality of life for patients, which was worthy for clinical promotion. | ||
