Exploring the Components of Multifunctional Agriculture Development in Zarivar Wildlife Refuge (Zarivar Lake): A Qualitative Content Analysis Approach

چکیده

In recent years, villages and agriculture around Zarivar lake have encountered crisis and instability due to various economic, social and environmental challenges such as climate change (specially repeated chilling injury on agricultural products), fading the role of conventional agriculture in rural economy, environmental stresses due to excessive use of chemical inputs, lake eutrophication, habitat degradation and biodiversity reduction, fading agriculture-related jobs as well as migration from village to city. On the other hand, multifunctional agriculture as a new paradigm of agricultural development has been considered a response to economic, social and environmental challenges. Thus, the purpose of this research is to recognize the components of multifunctional agriculture in villages around Zarivar lake. Information needed for this qualitative research was collected by semi-structured interviews with 19 participants in two academic and administrative groups, and analyzed by using conventional content analysis and MaxQDA12 software. Finally, the generated data was coded and classified in 98 primary codes, 11 main categories and 21 subcategories. The main categories include farm characteristics, understanding the importance and benefits of multifunctional agriculture, community demand for multifunctional agriculture, farmers’ entrepreneurial skills, facilitating and encouraging policies for applying multifunctional agriculture, institutional factor, extension and educational factor, social responsibility of local communities, awareness of the challenges of productive agriculture, the knowledge of villagers about the impact of using nature on their personal and social life, and the availability of tourism facilities in the villages around Zarivar lake.
