تبیین روابط ایران و عربستان در چارچوب مفهومی جنگ سرد

سؤالی که این مقاله در پی پاسخ به آن است، این است که آیا رقابت ایران و عربستان، آنها را به‌سوی جنگ سرد در منطقه خاورمیانه کشانده است؟ فرضیه مقاله آن است که رقابت­های منطقه­ای عربستان و ایران و کوشش آن دو برای برقراری تعادل و توازن استراتژیک در منطقه، عملا آنها را در قالب رقابتی از نوع جنگ سرد قرار داده است. برای اثبات فرضیه از روش توصیفی – تحلیلی استفاده شده است. یافته نظری مقاله نشان داد که ایران و عربستان عملا در جنگ سرد به­سر می‌برند و لذا جنگ سرد می­تواند از یک سو بین دو دولت و نه الزاماً در سطح وسیع بین دو بلوک و دو ابرقدرت، و در سطح منطقه‌ای و نه الزاماً در سطح سیستمی نیز اتفاق افتد. یافته عملی مقاله نیز به این پیشنهاد منجر شد که ایران و عربستان نباید باب مذاکره را ببندند؛ زیرا در غیاب دیپلماسی ممکن است مدیریت روابط از کنترل سیاستمداران خارج شود و به‌دست نظامیان بیفتد که در این صورت، دو کشور با اوضاع دشوار و پیش­بینی نشده­ای روبه­رو خواهند شد.
